Play golf in Sri Lanka on your next Asia golf tour!

Sri Lanka is a leisure destination that is yet to be recognized in the world of golf but surprisingly it is home to three of the finest eighteen hole courses in Asia. The three golf courses of international standing are located in the bustling cities of Colombo and in the mountainous cities of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.

The Royal Colombo Golf Club

The Royal Colombo Golf Club in Colombo is the most formal golf club in Sri Lanka and in fact one of the oldest golf clubs in the world which has a course that is 5,770 m long (par 71). A flat course with broad fairways which looks simple to beginners but there are many water hazards and well guarded bunkers. It is easily accessible within 20 minutes drive from any of the star class hotels in the city.

Victoria Golf club & resort

With a course of 6,190 m long (par 73) a championship golf course designed by Donald Steel is located in Digana, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This is also an ideal holiday resort in the hills for relaxing. The town of Digana is scenic and located in the lush hills of the Knuckles Range on the shores of the Victoria Reservoir, in Kandy. Impressive natural outcrops of rocks are a distinctive feature and indeed a hazard of the course. The Victoria Golf Club is situated 25 kms away from Kandy. Accommodation options too are available at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort ranging from upscale boutique hotels and villas to guest houses catering to varied budgets and tastes.

Nuwara Eliya Golf Club

The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club course is reputed to be one of Asia’s finest at 5,520 m (par 71) and is a favorite destination among pro golfers as well as beginners who come on vacation to the hill station. The Golf Club offers accommodation and dining options while the bar and lounge are open to visitors as well. Dress codes and golf standards should be followed at all times.
Surrounded by lush green mountains and some of the country’s finest tea estates, the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is located in an area fondly referred to by the locals as ‘Little England’. Nuwara Eliya is located approximately 180 kms away from Colombo. The nearest train station is Nanu Oya which is about 5 kms away from the club.
